Intervention Models
The DRRAT Model
Motheo Psych interventions are guided by a DRRAT model which was developed by Sepato over a period of fourteen years of practicing as a Clinical Psychologist. This model has proven to achieve exceptional results with people of all ages as individuals and groups. It is a model based on the premise that human beings have the inherent power to ultimately determine and define who they are and who they are destined to be, despite their past and current life challenges, fears and uncertainties about their future. Through the DRRAT individuals are empowered to understand and recognize how under used or over used their abilities are. The first 2 phased are more about in- depth self-discovery and healing (DR) while the last 3 phases (RAT) are about coaching. So, the DRRAT model contains both elements of psychotherapy and coaching.

Phase 1: Detox – Entails letting go of toxic thoughts, emotions, behaviour and experiences that hinder one’s ability to live life to its full potential.
Phase 2: Reconstruct – Entails facilitation of an open mindset to enable one to explore new and different perspectives and meaning to one’s personal life experiences and redefining one’s position in life.
Phase 3: Renew – Entails being empowered with the necessary life skills to achieve personal goals.
Phase 4: Actualize – Entails setting smart goals towards fulfilling one’s life purpose.
Phase 5: Thrive – Entails continued psychological support and coaching to achieve and thrive emotionally, spiritually, physically, socially and career wise.
The TTFFA Model

Step 1: Talk – Entails talking about the reasons for taking the initiative and expectations (Gains).
Step 2: Target – Entails setting goals based on expectations. Clarifying what needs to be achieved. e.g. Specific outcomes.
Step 3: Facts – Entails identifying, acknowledging and owning key facts and realities that will come with the outcomes.
Step 4: Alternatives – Entails looking at other options, costs, benefits, upsides, downsides, risks and time resources of each.
Step 5: Action – Entails looking at the way forward. What will one exactly do, based on the outlined action plan, and the Will and motivation around it.
The Combined Model
Combined models work more effectively but long term, they work from general to specific (deductive to inductive) form in the process of self-discovery, growth and empowerment. DRRAT starts with venting toxic emotions and healing past experiences that renders one dysfunctional and it can be employed on an individual and group level i.e. camp, while TTFAA shoots straight to setting individual goals for personal development.
